When parents separate, the whole family feels the emotional effect. Young people may feel they are stuck in the middle, can feel to blame and find it difficult to talk to either parent.
What is Relate for Young People?
If you are aged 10-25 and your parents, step-parents or whoever your adult carers are, are separating or argue a lot, Relate can help. You can talk in private about your experiences and feelings with a Relate counsellor.
Relate for Young People is confidential and you can access it yourself or a parent or another adult like a teacher can help arrange it for you.
How can it help?
This time with a counsellor on a one to one basis will help you express and understand your own feelings and better understand what is happening in your parents' relationship.
