Not all relationships work but when couples choose to part there are still things to talk about. This can be difficult as it is often a very emotional time.
What is Mediation?
Mediation is not like counselling, it helps couples who have decided to separate deal positively with the practicalities of relationship breakup such as finance, property and parenting issues; and to reach agreement.

Charges
Relate makes a charge for its services but does not aim to make a profit. Individual Relate centres will be able to advise you on their individual charges, some offer subsidised sessions.
Other support
Relate can support you and your children through a divorce or separation with the following services:
Relate for Parents: Parents concerned about the effects of their divorce or separation on their children (of any age) may see a counsellor to discuss worries or for practical information and advice.
Parents Apart: A workshop focused on the needs of your children. It is important that both parents maintain contact with their children following divorce or separation; this workshop will help you manage the practical and emotional aspects of being co-parents who live apart.
Relate Counselling for Young People: If you are aged 10-25 and your parents or adult carers are separating or in conflict, Relate can help. Time with a counsellor on a one to one basis in private will help you express and understand your feelings and better understand what is happening in their relationship.
